Code Rebel releases iRAPP 1.1, turning a Mac into a Terminal Server

September 17th, 2007  Digg It

Code Rebel (www.coderebel.com) is pleased to announce the immediate availability of iRAPP 1.1, a Workgroup enabled version of iRAPP with unique functionality that further enhances the flexibility and convenience of computing for multi-device users by adding a multi-user capability to a single Mac machine.

The Workgroup feature of iRAPP v1.1 is the first solution in the marketplace, which turns a Mac device into a Terminal Server, allowing multiple users to simultaneously connect to the same Mac device and use its applications.

The office computing environments are continuing to get increasingly more complex. With a recent trend of introducing Apple machines in the work environments that were previously dominated exclusively by PCs, companies are expanding the computing flexibility and functionality and enhancing employee productivity, but at the same time increasing the computing complexity and potentially increasing the IT costs.

iRAPP 1.1 builds on the initial release of iRAPP software which allows users who have multiple, mixed operating system computers (i.e. both Windows and Mac machines) to work off of their PC, and simultaneously, in a merged workspace work on both their PC and Mac applications. iRAPP 1.1, takes this a step further, and converts a Mac machine into a Terminal Server, thus enabling multiple PC users to connect and use the same Mac machine.

This functionality adds tremendous flexibility to companies who are contemplating adding Macs to their IT environments for certain applications. Companies and businesses who are hesitant to migrate all employees from PCs to Macs, or for whom it is simply too cost prohibitive to do so, now have a very easy and inexpensive solution. With iRAPP 1.1, IT managers can introduce a single Mac into their office environment, and allow multiple PC users to connect and simultaneously use the applications on that single Mac machine. Essentially, it allows users to turn their Macs into a server that can be accessed remotely by multiple users.

iRAPP 1.1 continues to sell for $79.95 for the single-user, multi-device access, and introduces a very simple pricing mechanism for the users/companies wishing to utilize iRAPP’s new multi-user, workgroup capability at a $79.95 per PC client.

iRAPP provides an intuitive user interface, which essentially fuses Mac applications into a PC environment. So a single user (or now even multiple users) sitting on their PCs can seamlessly work on applications and files residing on a Mac machine, or multiple Mac machines. Copying and pasting of text and images across Mac and PC applications is very easy and utilizes the same keyboard shortcuts already familiar to both Mac and PC users.
