3.1.8 Multi-User Mode Restrictions

When using iRAPP in Multi-User mode, sessions are hidden (ie they are not visible on the remote computer physical display).

Hidden sessions have a number of restrictions:

  • Inability to add custom display modes - iRAPP Servers allows users to customize display modes in Mac OS to ensure the best synchronization between the remote and local displays. However, this ability is disabled for hidden sessions and users must used one of the predetermined resolution.
  • Limited number of basic display modes - hidden sessions do not used the physical display and graphic card of the remote server. The only available resolutions are: 800x600, 1024x768 and the resolution currently used by the physical display of the remote Mac server. The only way to use a different resolution is to change the settings of the Mac server physical display so it matches the desired resolution on the client side. This can be done locally on the Mac server or remotely through iRAPP under the "Single User Modeв" (refer to the "Server Settings" section of this document for more information on user modes).
  • One user = One session - Mac OS allows only one session for each registered users on a computer. Multiple users cannot connect simultaneously to a server using the same username and password.
  • Graphic subsystem restrictions - Because hidden sessions do not use the physical graphic card of the remote computer, a number of benefits, including direct access to the card memory and 3D graphics acceleration, are disabled. This can interfered with the functionalities of some programs. If this is the case, it is recommended to limit the use of iRAPP Server to the "Single User Mode".
