5.2 Map Selection Logic

5.2 Map Selection Logic

When a keyboard event is detected in iRAPP, the appropriate map is selected based on the following logic:

  • The map must be active (to activate a map, select the checkbox located next to the map name in the Maps Manager).
  • The input language identifier ("Mac OS Input") must match the current input language on the Mac OS computer (i.e. maps with the "Russian" identifier will only be used if the remote Mac computer is currently using "Russian" as the input language). This rule does not apply to maps using the "any" identifier (these maps are always valid regardless of the input language).
  • The map must contain a rule for specified keyboard event. iRAPP Client can have several maps for the same input language identifier. For each keyboard event, the iRAPP Client will look through the valid maps according to their priority (as ordered in the list - from top down), and select the first map containing a rule for the event (see the rules description in the "Map Editor" section).
  • NB: The selected input language on the local Windows computer does not affect the map selection.
